BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Homegrown brand Bruneihalalfoods opened its first store at the departure area of the Brunei International Airport as part of its expansion plans to extend its products to tourists and travellers.

Parent company Ghanim International Corporation Sdn Bhd has partnered with local retailer Syarikat Hj Bungsu bin Kamit dan Anak-Anak to operate the airport store, which followed the recent opening of two of its kiosks at the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Saleha (RIPAS) Hospital.

The store carries a wide variety of local products including frozen food and ready-to-eat meals. It also offers travel-friendly packing services and is opened from 6.30am to 11.30pm daily.

Since it was established in 2009, Ghanim has continuously worked in partnership with local SMEs to develop products for both the local and global market, with focus on expanding its international market access.

“We now have over 60 [stock keeping units] in over 15 product ranges… Behind us is a strong network across Brunei as well as the international market such as China, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan and the UAE, where we continue to grow export and potential opportunities,” said Ghanim CEO Dr Nur Rahman.

Dr Nur told The Scoop that Syarikat Hj Bungsu bin Kamit dan Anak-Anak will be operating the store under Ghanim’s supervision and will prioritise promotion of the Bruneihalalfoods brand.

“Syarikat Hj Bungsu bin Kamit dan Anak-Anak [is experienced] in operating a retail outlet… There is a good synergy between us. The airport is a strategic decision for us as we want to bring Brunei’s best to the world and provide the convenience to tourists and travellers to select a wide variety of quality local products to bring abroad,” he added.
