BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Ministry of Health will roll out new BruHealth app features that allow users to plan activities for healthy living from May 22.

Users will be able to use the new all-in-one scanner for QR codes of COVID-19 vaccination and recovery certificates, as well as QR codes at public premises, Health Minister YB Dato Dr Hj Mohammad Isham Hj Jaafar announced Thursday.

Other upgrades include the user interface, using a biometric ID to log in to user accounts, and Help features to resolve any BruHealth issues.

The new BruHealth 3.0 version will also have two new health programmes, namely ‘BN on the Move’ and ‘Check in Challenge’, both of which will be launched in the near future.

The app is part of the government’s initiative to transform healthcare delivery using artificial intelligence.

Integrated with the health ministry’s BruHIMS patient data system, the app was initially launched as a COVID contact tracing app in May 2020.

In September 2020, the government had made it compulsory for all Brunei residents to use the smartphone app.

Over 90 percent of residents had registered on BruHealth, according to 2020 government data.

The app provides updates on COVID-19 development and related policy measures, monitors users’ health conditions through the self-assessment feature and tracks risk exposure of using Bluetooth and GPS tracking features.

Users must update and re-login to the BruHealth app before they can use the new features.
