BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The EU – Brunei Darussalam Partnership Facility in collaboration with Alliance Française de Brunei Darussalam hosted the EU Cultural Day on Tuesday, June 24, at the Baiduri Bank Headquarters in Gadong.
Held in conjunction with the internationally celebrated Fête de la Musique, the event brought together performers and guests from Brunei and Europe in the spirit of friendship and cultural exchange.
The private event was attended by members of Alliance Française, stakeholders and their family, who enjoyed live performances by European musical acts, each representing diverse musical traditions and influences.
Eve Lubin, Ambassador of France to Brunei Darussalam, welcomed guests to the event.

Highlights included a captivating set by Emile Londonien, a jazz-electronic trio from France, and the smooth Bossa nova stylings of Mercy Dumais, a Latin jazz singer from Jakarta, Indonesia. Songs were performed in French, Portuguese, and English, offering a rich musical experience that celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
Guests were also treated to a culinary sampling of dishes from across Europe, with delicacies from Greece, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden and Portugal adding flavour to the festive atmosphere.


In a message ahead of the event, H.E. Denis Chaibi, the EU Ambassador to Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam, said: “EU Cultural Day brings together a tapestry of music, art, and flavours that underscores the rich cultural connections between Europe and Brunei.
It is a time to take stock and bear witness to the spirit of cultural exchange, which fosters mutual understanding and friendship between the EU and Brunei”.
The EU Cultural Day was organised by EU-Brunei Darussalam Partnership Facility, with the support of the Embassy of France in Brunei Darussalam, Brunei Music Society and Baiduri Bank.
