BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – PosBru Sendirian Berhad is set to take over all national postal operations from January 1, 2026, as part of a strategic move to keep the sector relevant in a rapidly evolving digital era.
All postal services previously under the government’s Postal Services Department will be fully transferred to PosBru, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Darussalam Assets.
PosBru will operate as a Public Postal Licensee regulated by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam.
The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications (MTIC) organised an open day on Wednesday to provide a clearer picture of the changes that will take place during the transition period. The session also allowed stakeholders and the public to obtain further information and ask questions on the corporatisation process.
MTIC Acting Permanent Secretary, Hj Hairul Mohd Daud Hj Abdul Karim, said the move comes as demand for traditional postal services continues to decline, while demand for parcel, logistics and e-commerce services continues to rise.
To remain competitive, the sector must strengthen its capabilities through the adoption of new technologies and more flexible operating models, he added.

Transition to PosBru
MTIC said existing postal services will continue without disruption. PosBru will begin rebranding existing postal infrastructure in stages, and has pledged to maintain the current rates for mail delivery and premium services.
PosBru will also roll out a new Post Global system, which will include enhanced tracking capabilities for selected parcels, small packets and registered items. Online payment options and card payment facilities will also be available for customers in the near future.
MTIC stressed that staff welfare will be safeguarded during the transition process.
The ministry said all Postal Services Department employees will be offered the opportunity to continue working under PosBru, and that a group sessions will be held to provide clarity to staff on role structures, benefits and career development.
