Local universities and higher learning institutions are invited to compete in an ASEAN-wide hackathon-style event hosted by CIMB Group Holdings Berhad.

Dubbed the CIMB 3D Conquest, the inaugural competition aims to identify and attract ASEAN’s top creative and entrepreneurial young digital talent.

Collaborating with DARe and Progresif, CIMB Brunei is encouraging local varsities to join. Participants will be competing for a chance to win cash prizes totaling more than US$120,000 and an opportunity to advance to the grand finale in Kuala Lumpur in January 2019.

Winners will also gain invaluable exposure through a trip to Silicon Valley.

“As a leading ASEAN universal bank, CIMB remains committed to developing talent across the region,” said Group Chief People Officer of CIMB Group Dato Hamidah Naziadin.

The CIMB 3D Conquest will run on three tracks — Data Science, FinTech and Coding — the mastery of which is crucial to help embrace the opportunities of the gig economy.

The data science track will challenge students to build predictive models and segmentation frameworks that target revenue and profitability.

Meanwhile, the Fintech track requires students to reimagine banking solutions and the coding Track focuses on improving the mobile payments space.

Students from Universiti Brunei Darussalam, Universiti Teknologi Brunei, Institute of Brunei Technical Education, Politeknik Brunei, Kolej IGS and Kemuda Institute are slated to attend a briefing that will take place on September 21 at 3pm at the D&T Building in Kampong Anggerek Desa.

The competition is supported by the Ministry of Education Malaysia, Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) and Big Community. For more information on the competition, interested students can visit 3dconquest.cimb.com
