Get ready for the new Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI Quattro: Born on the racetrack and built for the road.
Launched by TCY Motors Sdn Bhd on Tuesday, the new R8 is more striking and dynamic with a newly developed quattro drive that ensures breathtaking driving performance.
Aesthetically, the car is similar to its race track version, making it the closest representation of Audi’s motorsports success.
“This is what makes the car unique — as a whole it’s more than 50 per cent similar to the race track version,” said John Tan, TCY Motors’s brand marketing executive.
The design of the coupe reflects the powerful sporty character of the R8, with a multi-material Audi Space Frame (ASF) for lighter weight and optimum distribution.
Performance-wise, the R8’s freely-aspirated V10 engine offers even more power and torque than before, allowing it to achieve zero to 100km/h in just 3.2 seconds.
“It has a mid-mounted engine as the design is based off a true sports car. Audi has a very successful history of motor racing so what they’ve done is taken years of experience and knowledge into the latest R8,” said Tan.
Despite its powerful engine, you can expect fuel consumption to cut down by 10 percent, thanks to its start-stop system. Users of the luxurious two-seater car also have the choice of four driving modes — comfort, auto, dynamic and individual.
“Analog instruments and MMI monitor is replaced with an Audi virtual cockpit, making it safer and more efficient for drivers,” said Tan.
The driver can switch the all-digital display between two different view modes – which bring either the virtual dial instruments or the large navigation map into focus.
The new Audi R8 is also equipped with a fine-tuned sound system from Bang and Olufsen, front sport seats with seatbelt microphone, cruise control with speed limiter, climate control, 112 litres in front luggage compartment and 226 litres behind the seats.
When it comes to safety, the car is equipped with an aluminium space-frame safety structure, six airbags, secondary collision brake assist, the international standard for attachment points for child safety in passenger cars (ISOFIX) and a tyre pressure monitor with pressure and temperature display.
