BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – The Supreme Court of Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday released an advisory warning members of the public to be wary of suspicious calls from people telling them to attend court.

“It has been brought to the court’s attention that many members of the public are currently receiving calls asking to provide their identification card numbers and informing them that they are to attend court to pay summons, collect summons or to deal with other court-related matters,” a statement from the Supreme Court read.

The court has confirmed that these calls are fraud and advised the public not to divulge personal information requested by the caller.

“Please be aware that if the court needs to contact any member of the public, the court will only do so during office hours and will call using the official numbers,” the Supreme Court said.

Any member of the public that receives suspicious calls should immediately contact the court at the numbers below to verify their legitimacy.
