The Brunei December Festival 2018 will kick off on Sunday, officiated by His Majesty the Sultan at Taman Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) in Bandar Seri Begawan.
As part of the festival launching, an 11.4km cycling event will take place on the day, as well Brunei’s “Strongest Man and Woman” competition, The Big Bake Sale, launching of the Book of Records, and Jalinan Kelupis Terpanjang — an attempt to make the longest kelupis rice braid in the world.
With 60 events lined-up throughout the month, the public can look forward to vendors and activities divided into several categories: food, Islam, sports and adventure, culture and creative arts, as well as recreation and shopping.
New activities introduced for this second installment of BDF include the First Open Brunei Double Dart Event, Shitokai Brunei Darussalam International Open Karate Do Championship, and the Open RC Powerboat Race.
With activities available for everyone, organisers hope the public will come out and support the festival, aimed at boosting tourism revenue.
Members of the public coming to the BDF launch on Sunday are advised to plan their journey early, as roads will close from 5.30am.
