BRUNEI-MUARA – Get your groove on this weekend at Hundred Beats 2019, a celebration of Brazilian samba and reggae beats happening at the Jerudong Park Amphitheatre.

The three-hour event on March 2 will see the largest ever live ensemble of Bruneian drummers and percussionists.

First started in 2005, the event went on hiatus for 10 years until it was revived in 2016 by founder of the KaMaLoKo Entertainment Group, Pg Kamal Ghadafi Pg Hj Suhaimi.

“This is the biggest ensemble of percussionists we’ve ever put together since we revived the event three years ago,” he told media. “Our group has grown tremendously over the years from five to 20 percussionists.”

“We aim to do these events annually, as we want to support the growth of the local music industry and hopefully we can include this in the Brunei tourism calendar.”

To promote the Hundred Beats movement, the Kamaloko Entertainment Group has conducted workshops and live shows around the country, hoping to recruit more musicians to take part.

The ensemble has also toured in other countries, including Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and South Korea, establishing networks with event organisers and percussionist groups across Asia.

Tickets are priced at $50, $15 and $10 and can be purchased at the link here. or at the entrance to JPAmphitheatre on the day of the concert.

Hundred Beats 2019 is co-organised by Kamaloko Entertainment Group, in collaboration with Jerudong Park Country Club and Progresif Cellular.
