BRUNEI-MUARA – Brunei’s premier technology consumer expo, TechXpo 2019, kicked off on Thursday to much fanfare.

The country’s biggest telco, DST, will be title sponsor for one of the highlights of the four-day showcase, the TechXpo Cybergames, which has attracted gamers from Brunei, Malaysia and Singapore to compete for cash and prizes worth $17,000.

DST said the value of the sponsorship is worth over $25,000 and they will be “supporting all the teams that participate in the tournament” in an effort to grow the e-sports industry in the region.

The Cybergames includes competitions on PC, console and mobile games,  including Counterstrike, League of Legends, Tekken and and PUGB.

KRISTALfm is the official radio station of the event, broadcasting live throughout the whole TechXpo at Bridex Hall 2. Vendors will have exclusive interview packages available to them at special prices throughout the event, while the public also have the opportunity to meet their favorite DJs.

A number of DST retail booths will be present at the expo, offering the latest mobile broadband plans and tech gadgets, including the recently released Samsung Galaxy Note 10 series, as well as the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR.

Unlimited mobile broadband plans start from $68 per month, with an offer of a free mobile router or home router, depending on availability.

The teclo will also be offering business opportunities for individuals and enterprises through their “Be Our Partner” campaign, which gives game and app developers a chance to earn revenue by becoming content partners with DST.

During the TechXpo, DataStream Solutions Sdn Bhd (DSS), a DST subsidiary, will be exhibiting a cloud-based service called PeoplesHR, a human resources information system that allows companies to manage employee information, benefits, leave, attendance as well as payroll, all in one mobile app.

“Companies will only need to pay for a one time start up fee based on the number of employees who will be using the HR tech solution,” DST said.

“Companies would not need to worry about spending on any additional hardware of software which will simultaneously help reduce the company’s HR costs.”

For more information, members of the public can visit DST’s booth at the TechXpo 2019 held at the Bridex Hall 2. The event will run from August 29 to September 1, from 10 am until 10 pm.
