BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) has made a firm order for four Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, in a deal valued at US$1.5 billion.
RB said the purchase marked a “bold step forward” in the next phase of its strategic growth.
“The new fleet will allow us the potential to tap into new growth areas, strengthening RB’s market appeal,” said RB CEO Sabirin Hj Abdul Hamid.
However the airline did not outline detailed plans for expansion in the media statement.
The purchase agreement with Boeing was signed at the Singapore Airshow on Tuesday (Feb 20).
RB currently flies to 20 destinations and operates five 787-8 Dreamliners on its long haul routes to Melbourne, Dubai and London. The carrier uses eight Airbus A320neo to operate short to medium-haul routes.
