BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN — Inchcape Brunei on Tuesday celebrated the successful installation of its first solar PV systems, called the Inchcape Brunei Solar Panels Initiative, marking a major leap forward in sustainable business operations.
With this milestone, Inchcape Brunei becomes the first automotive company in the country to install rooftop solar panels across its premises.
The firm is the parent company of NBT Brunei, the distributor of Lexus and Toyota vehicles in the sultanate.

A total of 368 solar panels were installed across two strategic locations: the Lexus Showroom & Service Centre in Gadong (144 panels) and Toyota Showroom & Service Centre in Beribi (224 panels).
These systems are designed to generate substantial amounts of renewable energy, capable of reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 100 to 156 metric tonnes annually.
Beyond its environmental benefits, the initiative is also expected to lower operational costs and enhance energy efficiency.
The installation of solar panels reflects Inchcape Brunei’s support for Brunei’s national sustainability goals and Wawasan Brunei 2035, which envisions a dynamic and sustainable economy.

This project is the latest chapter in NBT Brunei’s ongoing green journey, which began more than a decade ago with the introduction of hybrid electric vehicles. Today, NBT proudly leads the way as the home of Hybrid EVs, with over 1,000 hybrid vehicles sold.
“Our solar investment and hybrid leadership go hand in hand,” said Muhd Clovien Abdullah Timpoh, vice president of Inchcape Brunei.
“This milestone is a reflection of our promise to drive innovation, protect the environment, and shape a cleaner, more sustainable future for Brunei.”

He added: “We are incredibly honored and proud of this milestone. To successfully integrate solar energy in our operations represents a significant step in our ongoing commitment to promote and practice environmental sustainability.
“This is just a part of a long-journey, and we will continue to lead by example in green technology and sustainable
practices as well as raise awareness and engagement with our staff, customers and the public.”
Held at the Lexus Brunei Showroom in Gadong, the event was attended by Hj Ahmad Hj Husin, president of Inchcape Brunei; and Abdul Salam Hj Abdul Wahab, assistant director of the Energy Transition Division at the Department of Energy, Prime Minister’s Office.
