The seductive lines of the all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé are sure to beguile anyone who crosses its path.

Last Friday, BMW fans were treated to an exclusive showcase of the new variant of the 4 Series Coupé — the BMW 420i Coupé M Sport. QAF Auto unveiled the distinctive two-door vehicle at its showroom in Beribi.

Designed for driving pleasure

A sporty coupé combined with an elegant four-door concept, the appearance of the BMW 4 Series Coupé brings both the familiar styling of BMW’s sporty two-door models and the brand’s new design language to the fore.

A small number of crisp lines and the use of clear, generously-sized surfaces come together into the body design. The result is auspicious: more style, more space, more dynamism.

The spotlight on dynamic driving pleasure puts clear water between the all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé and the latest BMW 3 Series Sedan and gives it a significantly sharper character than its predecessor.

Its aura of athleticism and exclusivity sees it following in the BMW brand’s coupé tradition – shaped by a succession of legendary sporting machines – which now stretches back almost 90 years.

The four-cylinder engine in the all-new BMW 420i Coupé is a shining example of efficiency and the free-revving performance associated with BMW power units. Its maximum output of 184 hp and peak torque of 300 Nm between 1,350 and 4,000 rpm translate into a 0 to 100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds.

As soon as you take your seat in the cockpit, you won’t be left in any doubt about what perfectly executed sporty elegance feels like.

Exterior design: A blend of elegance and dynamism

As a defining element of the front end, the kidney grille stands confidently at the centre of the BMW 4 Series Coupé.

The slim headlights reach well into the front wheel arches and full-LED headlights are fitted as standard, while the BMW Laserlight is available as an option. At speeds above 60 km/h, the laser high-beam increases maximum illumination range to 550 metres.

The flanks of the coupé are shaped by precise and tautly carved surfaces — short overhangs, slender pillars, long doors with frameless windows, the slim window graphic and a flowing roofline accentuate its elegant appearance. The glasshouse – heavily tapered in its rear section – and muscular shoulders accentuate its powerful stature.

Overall, the length of the car has increased by to 4,768 mm, width to 1,852 mm and the wheelbase to 2,851 mm. Vehicle height is up to 1,383 mm, making the car 57 mm lower than the new BMW 3 Series Sedan.

A luxuriously sporty interior

Cleanly designed surfaces, high-quality materials and the driver-focused layout of the cockpit define the premium ambience of the all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé.

The BMW 420i Coupé M Sport comes standard with sports seats and a newly designed sports leather steering wheel. Limited units of the coupé are available with the M Sport bucket seats, a touch inspired by the BMW M4.

The ambient lighting package includes the Welcome Light Carpet as standard, creating a particularly luxurious feel.

BMW Intelligent Voice Control and wireless smartphone integration

The standard fitted BMW Live Cockpit Professional features a fully digital screen comprising a digital instrument cluster behind the steering wheel with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches and a 10.25-inch control display.

The fully digital instrument display in the cockpit provides enough room to accommodate an excerpt from the navigation map, status indicators for the driver assistance systems or 3D visualisation of the surrounding area.

The BMW Live Cockpit Professional system also comes with optimised smartphone integration. Alongside wireless Apple CarPlay, the operating system for the all-new BMW 4 Series Coupé now also hosts wireless Android Auto.
